WPPA Forward Photography Expo

Save the Date! Forward Photography Expo will be held at the Madison Marriott West on March 3-6th! Full Schedule and Registration will follow soon.  Hey everyone! The WPPA has an awesome convention coming up let me fill you in on what’s happening. You should know that this will be your last opportunity to watch the North Central District print competition outside of Atlanta. Following this year, PPA is moving all district print comp judging’s to Atlanta. Print judging will be held March 3-4th at the Marriott West so make plans to see print judging live and in person. Great learning experience, see in person what the judges have to say. On Saturday we will be starting our programs at 7:00am with our very own Greg Loll filling us in on how he has built his sports photography business. Making money with volume. Next we have Darrell Gulin (Canon Explorer of Light) he will be presenting us with his program on travel, wildlife and landscapes. I always look forward to sitting in on the Explorer of Light programs. Starting at 1:00 Rod and Stephanie Oman will teach us a new, quick, easy, practical, systematic way of developing sales scripts on the phone, in the camera room, and in-the sales room, “To Crack the Code.” OK enough of classroom, Saturday night is FUN NIGHT, there is going to be a photo Safari, don’t forget to dress up for this and wear your safari attire. Sunday will be another day not to miss, Amy Feick (7:00-9:00am) will be taking us to a new place, creating images that are out of the norm, time to stretch your horizons. Following Amy’s program we have someone who is not a stranger to the GIA platform Sandra Pearce, she is gracing us with her knowledge using Photoshop for painting. Talking to Sandra she informed me that we will be using her techniques in our every day work flow. Can’t wait! Michael Oneill is sharing his wedding program on Monday, the morning will be a demonstration of posing and lighting. After lunch he will finish with workflow and sales. The day will start with creating the foundation of the portrait sale during the consolation process, the design process and we will move into the posing and lighting contribution to the project. He will explore the words and scripts that are used to build purchasing desire and make closing the sale that much easier. We will spend time on post production to insure that what you show the client is the very very best and stand head and shoulders above the weekend photographers. Don MacGregor started his PROFESSIONAL career in 1970 and started MacGregor Studios in 1974. The studio has grown from a humble beginning in an apartment to a 500 sq ft store front and finally to a 3500 sq foot building in Vancouver. The studio has gone through several changes over the years. Wedding photography has comprised approx. 40% of the studio business and has been consistent over the years. Graduation portraits were a foundation in the 70’s and 80’s. The 90’s saw a dramatic focus on Lifestyle family and wall portraiture which now comprises almost 70% of the studios sales.
