Don’t plan on simply watching in his workshop class—Carl will challenge you to become a better photographer than you already are. His photographic skills are just part of what will help each student. His greatest strength is his ability to see what skills others already possess and then break things down in simple terms to help enhance those skills to reach a new level.

Amy Feick

MPhotog., CR., CPP, IPC Juror

When I was growing up my parents owned a small photography business. My best friends and I used to love spending a Saturday “modeling” for my Dad. I was the go-to babysitter for my younger brothers while my parents would be at a wedding.

At the time, I  didn’t see what my Father loved about photography. It wasn’t until 10 years after he packed away his camera that I got bit by the “bug”. I had always been an artist but I could never find that one medium that totally satisfied my inner need to create; until Photography.

My studio resides in Downtown Port Huron, in the middle of a historic building. Currently, I am in the process of renovating an old building to move our studio to Marysville, MI.

I love learning everything I can about my craft and am constantly trying to soak up as much knowledge as possible. In doing so, I became a CPP (Certified Professional Photographer), and earned the Master of Photography and Photographic Craftsman degrees from Professional Photographers of America.

I now also enjoy judging image competitions and guest speaking across the country to fellow photographers on inspiration and creativity.  I was honored when Professional Photographer Magazine asked to do a feature profile on how I incorporate creativity into my everyday work.

He has had several images included in the PPA Loan Collection, earning him the Imaging Excellence Award in 2013. He has also been a finalist in the Grand Imaging Awards.

In 2001, Larry earned his Certified Professional Photographer designation from the Professional Photographers of America, followed by his Master Photographer degree is 2007.  In 2009 he became a PPA Approved Juror. He added Master Artist to his resume in 2016.
